Today's Moondoggie's birthday so I picked a simple tool...
I feel like these are under-rated in our modern kitchen, but I've found mine lately to be invaluable in order to make a salad quicker, and stop wasting paper towels in the process. To what could I be referring?
It's the Lettuce Spinner!!
This particular spinner was a hand-me-down from my grandma, and it sat unused in my cupboard for a few years before I realized how awesome it was. My main detterence to not using it was that it was a large item that would have to be washed.
However, because prepping lettuce for salad is my least favorite thing to do in the kitchen, I decided to give it a go. And guess what! It's totally worth it! I just quickly rinse my lettuce, toss it in the spinner, spin the heck out of it, and voilà! No wasting a million paper towels that quickly get soaked to dry my lettuce.
Like I said, mine's a "vintage" model (complete with crack in handle), but there are plenty of modern versions available, too, for those of you who didn't bother registering for one (probably because they seemed useless and outdated!), like me.
Target has a few, including this Zyliss model.
I'm sure I would love Pampered Chef's version, too!
Does anyone else love their lettuce spinner?
