About
Hey there, I'm Nicole! I'm a renaissance writer mama & school librarian. In my free time, I can usually be found watching my kids play sports or with a nose in a book (or occasionally both things at once).
In addition to my newsletter, I’ve written several YA and middle grade manuscripts. I have a deep, abiding love for young adult and middle grade lit— both reading and writing it. My short story The Follow-Back was published online at Voyage YA by Uncharted Literary Journal. I’m recently published my novel Timing is Everything serially on my Substack newsletter as well.
Recently my meandering career path in education and homeschooling my kids part-time for ten years finally led me to a place where I feel right at home: the library. I’m three school years in as the library media specialist at an elementary school and I couldn’t love it more.
I studied modern languages and literature at Cal Poly SLO and have an M.A. in Spanish linguistics and Latin American literature from CSULB and also recently took classes in Library Technology. For ten years I wrote regularly online in blogging, blog editing, and as a columnist for The Art of Simple.
I’ve been married for over twenty years, and I have three kiddos, and one labradoodle, named Scully (after Vin Scully, not the X-files; we’re big Dodgers fans around here). I love a good story, and treasure the gospel as the greatest (true) story ever.
I’ve been blogging for almost fifteen years, which is a long time in blog-years. Some old blog posts have been republished on Substack, but if you’re looking for a recipe or some other old post, it’s probably be over on my lifestyle blog (which is mainly an archive and rarely updated), Gidget Goes Home.
